Massage Therapy

Massage is one of the oldest forms of remedial therapy. First practiced in a structured manner in China and Mesopotamia more than 5,000 years ago, the art of massage was already well known to the physicians of ancient Greece when Hippocrates, "Father of Medicine," wrote in the 5th century B.C. that "the way to health is a scented bath and an oiled massage every day."

Massage is an excellent way to relax the mind and body, and to bring relief from the stresses of everyday. A regular body massage can enhance general health and vitality, while specialized methods can coax tension from muscles, ease stiff joints and promote healthy circulation. Massage is helpful for almost any condition especially tension headaches, back pain, hyperactivity and, also, insomnia.

Conditions that respond best to massage:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Heart disorders
  • Hyperactivity
  • Back and neck pain
  • High blood pressure
  • Insomnia
  • Circulatory disorders
  • Headaches
  • Stress and its related disorders
  • Physical discomfort and pain in parts of the musculoskeletal system

Swedish Massage: 30 min $55, 60 min $85, 90 min $130

This technique is both relaxing and invigorating.  You will experience stimulation of the skin and the soothing of nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management.

Deep Tissue: 30 min $65, 45 min $90

A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, utilizing heavy pressure.  This technique releases toxins from muscles and gets blood and oxygen circulating properly.  With slow deep strokes, the therapist works to lengthen the muscle fibers, restore balance, and reestablish structural and functional integrity.  People suffering from chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders will benefit to the highest degree.

Hot Stone Massage: 60 min $95, 90 min $135

HotStone massage involves the application of water-heated basalt stones to key points on the body, giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity, while the placing of different sized stones on the body's chakra points is meant to create a more balanced flow of energy.

Sports Massage: 30 min $65

Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries.

Reflexology: 30 min $55

Reflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain by stimulating predefined pressure points on the feet and hands. This controlled pressure alleviates the source of the discomfort. In the absence of any particular malady or abnormality, reflexology may be as effective for promoting good health and for preventing illness as it may be for relieving symptoms of stress, injury, and illness.

Myofacial Release: 30 min $65

Myofascial release therapy helps individuals with poor posture, physical injury, illness and emotional stress.  Typically used to treat back pain; help persons suffering from frozen shoulder, fibromyalgia, headaches, chronic fatigue syndrome, menstrual problems, incontinence, tennis or golfer's elbow, shin splints, sprains, rheumatoid arthritis, muscle spasms, whiplash injuries and carpal tunnel syndrome.  By using myofascial release therapy, disruptions of the fascial network are freed and tension on bones, muscles, joints and nerves is relieved.  Ultimately, myofascial release restores complete balance back to the body.
